From Fannie May and Brach's Candies to Tootsie Rolls, Frango Mints, Lemonheads, and more - Chicago has a tasty history of making candy loved the world over. Learn about Chicago's sweet candy-making history and why the city has been a sweet spot for creating confections. Ages 8 & up.

Civil War Days
Naper Settlement
During Civil War Days, Naper Settlement is transformed into a Civil War encampment where visitors can experience firsthand a turbulent time period in our nation's history. Hundreds of reenactors participate, staging a battle with raging artillery and marching infantry. Experience the 1860s with generals, soldiers, and President Abraham Lincoln. A battle between the North and South occurs each day at 2:30 pm.

Xtreme Bugs
Brookfield Zoo
Experience the invasion of Xtreme Bugs at Brookfield Zoo's summerlong, temporary exhibit of epic proportions that will feature everything from Xtra-large animatronic bugs, including a 16-foot-high by 33-foot-long Japanese hornet displayed at the zoo's Roosevelt Fountain, to Xtra-small live insects. Xciting activities, including bug cooking demonstrations, cockroach races, a spider web climber, and other bug-themed entertainment is planned for guests throughout the summer.

Red, White, & BBQ Festival & Competition
Ty Warner Park
A weekend of tasty barbecue, music, and fun at Ty Warner Park. Start off the summer with great food, observe some of the best BBQ experts compete to win prize money, learn BBQ tips, and enjoy Ty Warner Park. There will be plenty of food, carnival rides for all ages, concerts, entertainment, and more.

LEGO Pirates Weekend
LEGOLAND Discovery Center
Tighten' ye bootstraps and man the bow, ye captain needs all hands on deck for the weekend's activities. Build a LEGO parrot in the Model Builder Workshop, participate in a center-wide treasure hunt for a chance to win a LEGO treasure chest full of prizes, walk the plank pirate themed speed build, and much more.
