When Chicago travel is your goal, you are joining visitors from all over the world who come to the windy city to enjoy the sights and attractions that have made Chicago so famous around the world. People include two of the Chicago area’s most visited attractions; the Lincoln Park Zoo and the Brookfield Zoo whenever Chicago travel is in on their agenda. Animal lovers have the opportunity to enjoy and learn in two very different environments.
One of America’s truly urban zoological gardens, Lincoln Park Zoo is a premier Chicago destination. The zoo is famous for its historic structures; established in 1856, it is one of America’s oldest zoos. The beautiful Georgian architecture mixes with the modern facilities that make Lincoln Park also one of the country’s premier conservation organizations. The Zoo prides itself on being one of the last major cultural institutions in the United States without an admission price. Lincoln Park Zoo has over 80 species of mammals from as far away as Africa and Australia. The Zoo also boasts over 70 species of reptiles, amphibians and fish, and over 75 species of birds. Two areas are dedicated to children who travel to the zoo: the Pritzker Family Children’s Zoo has hands-on experiences for kids and the Farm-in-The-Zoo is a unique inner-city exhibit on farm animal life.
The Brookfield Zoo, just west of the Chicago city limits, is a 216 acre zoo featuring over 2,000 animals. The Zoo has long been an innovator in animal conservation. Opened in 1934, the Zoo became internationally renowned for its use of natural barriers rather than cages. The Brookfield Zoo also built the first indoor dolphin exhibit in 1960, and the first indoor rain forest simulation in 1980. Exhibits like the Australia House, Baboon Island, Wolf Woods, Reptile House, Pachyderm House, and more will please visitors of all ages.
In addition to so many other attractions from Grant Park to the Sears Tower, Chicago travel brings visitors multiple opportunities to discover and enjoy animals from all over the world. Be sure to take a close look at the location of the Hilton Indian Lakes Resort when making your Chicago travel plans and take advantage of its convenient access to not only the airports and downtown Chicago, but also the best of what Chicago has to offer. |
